Location Location Location

There was much debate between David and myself as to where our wedding was going to take place. Originally I just wanted to go to Vegas or a Courthouse - like I’ve said before I am not into being the center of attention. But David said NO. So, I started doing lots and lots of research. I had Excel Spreadsheets galore with numbers, facts, and figures about all of the locations I thought would be nice and affordable. David, on the other hand, just knew that we could have our ceremony in a church, then rent out the church hall for the reception and have our entire wedding (for at least 150 people) for the bargain price of $800 with no data to back it up.

Ummm…

No.

After weeks and weeks of long, drawn out discussions showing David spreadsheet after spreadsheet of how much things actually cost I almost had him totally convinced that the $800 mentioned above was absolutely ludicrous and he was finally ready to look at one of the locations that I had become smitten with.

We went. We saw. We loved.

David was convinced!

So… In October… David and I will become husband and wife… In Newport Beach… On the Yacht Athena!

Ohhhhh yaaa! We are getting married on a boat! David and I both love the beach, ocean, water, etc., so getting married on the boat is kind of perfect for us. The whole wedding (ceremony & reception) will only be 4 hours, which should be the perfect amount of time for me to be the center of attention. It’s casual yet elegant and I think that it is going to be grand!

The company that we are going through is Electra Cruises and I could not be happier with the level of service that we have received so far… I cannot wait to see how everything ends up turning out!

Next wedding topic will be…   THE honeymoon!

Fabulous Cake Topper

I have been on the lookout for a cake topper for a while ago. While doing all of my internet searching I felt like all the ones that I came across were cheesy or looked cheap. Then last week I remembered this:

My oldest friend (we have been BFFs since the first week of kindergarten) got married about a year ago and I remembered how much I absolutely loved her cake topper. Isn’t it fabulous? So I shot her a text message and she was able to dig through her email archives and send me the link to where she got her cake topper.

Bad Blogger

Well, it’s official… I really suck at this blogging thing... I am a list maker, so I am going to list all of the reasons why blogging is so difficult for me…

1.     My life is really not that interesting

2.     My thoughts are always random and disjointed, very hard to follow, and even more difficult to write down

3.     I am in front of a computer for a minimum of 9.5 hours per day – when I get home the last thing I want to do is turn my computer on

4.     They have the ability to monitor our keystrokes at work, so blogging at work on a day to day basis is probably out of the question (even though that is what I am doing now - shhhh). Totally Big Brother, I know, but that’s what happens when you work for a very high security company.

5.     My personal laptop is a P.O.S. – it is definitely time for an upgrade

6.     The TV is way more entertaining than writing about my life

I think that’s about it… But despite all of the above reasons (plus many more that I just cannot think of right now) I am going to make it a point to try harder.

It’s been brought to my attention that I have not blogged once about the wedding – and since that is all mind consuming for me right now; I am going to start sharing some of my thoughts and ideas here…

Birthday Recaps

Two weeks ago it was my sister's 30th birthday. In celebration we held a little shin-dig of about 30 people at our house. Originally we planned on holding the party in our backyard, but the weather had different plans for us. So we had half the party inside and half out. All in all I would say that it was a pretty successful party...

My mom made Michelle a cake out of Fruity Pebble Crispies (rice crispie treats made with fruity pebbles).

We also had 3 chocolate fountains (white, milk, and dark). They were really cool, but a pain in the arse to clean up the next day...

I could go on and on with the pictures (for once in my life I actually used the camera non-stop all night), but I need to move on to the next birthday bash...

Last weekend just so happened to be my 28th birthday... ugh... I can now officially say that I am in my late twenties... double ugh...

I am not one to want to have the attention on me - ever. Normally we will just do a small family dinner for my birthday. But since I am getting married this year and need to get used to having the attention on me, I thought that I would have a small party. We invited some family, the future in-laws, and some friends over and thanks to Baby Kyra, only about 5% of the attention was actually on me.

Mom made her amazing homemade pizza, some pasta, and a salad. And for the birthday cake I had yummy Cold Stone Ice Cream Cupcakes. 

All in all the party was a success. Mom & Michelle did an awesome job with everything!

I guess it wasn't that bad having some of the attention on me after all...
