Back to Back Weekends in the City

Yep, that’s right – I went up to the Bay Area 2 weekends in a row… Last weekend it was for family, and this weekend it was for friends.

Every year my 4 girlfriends from high school and I get together for a Girl’s Weekend. Normally we all go to Vegas for the weekend, but this year we decided to be a bit more sophisticated and to head up north to San Francisco. It’s amazing to see how much our little group of friends changes each year. Once upon a time we were little high school girls whose biggest concern was what to do after the football game on Friday night. Then we were wild college girls wanting to party all night long. Now 3 of the girls are married (2 of which are preggers) and the remaining 2 are engaged (to be married in May and October), and we were in bed by 11:00PM every evening…

The weekend consisted of A LOT of eating, great shopping, and lots of girl talk. We all got into town on Friday afternoon and we busted out all of our favorite foods from HS:

Bean dip, Gold Fish, and Cheez-Its

Mmmm… Brings back some great memories… After an appetizer of our Fav Food we walked to a restaurant called Perry’s for a light dinner. The place was really cute inside and the food was pretty good!

Saturday we were up and out of the house by 10:00AM! That is quite an accomplishment for 5 girls and 1 bathroom – we were all very impressed with ourselves… We went down Lombard Street, which is an extraordinarily crooked street:

And then we did some heavy duty shopping at Union Square.

I may have spent a small fortune at this wonderful store…

That night we met up with my BFF Kaysie at The Melting Pot **Side note: Kaysie is a friend from college, but she lives in the area and has become friends with my HS friends, so she was and honorary HS friend for the night** The Melting Pot = Amazingness… I am a HUGE fan of dipping, so this place is right up my alley! We knew that we would enjoy the appetizer of cheese and the dessert of chocolate best, so we skipped the dinner and just ordered salads. We got a Fiesta Queso dip and a Spinach garlic cheese dip for an appetizer and then for dessert we got the Original (which is chocolate and peanut butter) and S’mores. Oh My!

You practically had to roll us out of there by the time we were done eating!

After dinner we immediately went back to the house and went into a food coma...

Sunday we just relaxed, went to brunch (where I had my first Bloody Mary ever!) and then headed back to our homes. It was such a great weekend hanging out with my HS friends (and Kaysie). I am so glad that we have all been able to keep in touch throughout the years...

Weekend Wrap Up

Well, I can proudly say that I have survived my first road trip with the future in-laws! And what a whirlwind of a road trip it was - we went from LA to the Bay Area and back within 33 hours...

Our trip started Saturday morning, the sun was shinning and it was going to be a beautiful day in LA. But I was lucky enough to be stuck in the car for 6 hours staring at this...

and this...

When I thought I couldn't take staring at the drab scenery anymore, we finally got to our hotel in Pleasant Hill. We had enough time to clean up, get ready and then we were off to the party. Oh ya - did I mention that the reason for our trip was to celebrate David's second cousin's husband's surprise 65th birthday?

We get to the party and are greeted by Wayne2

Wayne is the birthday boy and Wayne2 is the cardboard cutout of the birthday boy. We entertained ourselves throughout the party by taking random pictures with Wayne2

The party was a lot of fun, and it was nice to get to meet more of the extended family. They had a taco bar that had the best tacos I have ever had. I have to find out the name of the place that catered it, I am pretty sure that it was from somewhere in Concord, so I will definitely be visiting there again... Sunday we had brunch with the family and then I got to stare at more of this

for roughly 6 hours. It was so nice to get back home and see the little bit of sunshine that was left in the day...

testing...

Testing my new signature!

Like a Virgin... Blogging for the Very First Time!

***Disclaimer***

I am not a writer in any way, shape, or form. As a matter of fact, English was always my most dreaded subject in school. I am also shy, and a woman of few words, so writing about my life is going to be quite a challenge. If you chose to continue reading, please do so at your own risk…

Well, my BFF Kaysie has finally convinced me that it is time for me to start a blog. Originally I agreed to do this once I get preggers so I could document the pregnancy. But 2011 is going to be a big year for me (and for a lot of my friends), so I thought that in order to preserve the memories I would start a blogging journal.

So far, this year I have no less than 3 weddings to attend – one I am the MOH and another I am THE BRIDE! Yes, I finally met the man of my dreams and we are getting married. Throughout the year I am sure that I will talk about the wedding often, but I will try not to bore you with all of the details. ;-)

I also have a plethora of friends that have recently become pregnant. I LOVE babies – this love for babies is pretty new for me. As a matter of fact, I believe I can date the start of the love to July 23rd, 2010. That was when my beautiful niece was born and I realized that I just absolutely needed to have one (or two) of my own. The more time I spend with that gorgeous child, the more I cannot wait to start a family of my own.

Because of all of the above, and many other things, I thought that it would be important to start documenting life in general. I really look forward to documenting my life and learning more about others in the blogging world. So, please bear with me while I get used to stepping out of my comfort zone with this new blogging journey…
