A Week in Paradise

At first David and I didn’t think that we were going to be able to afford to go on a Honeymoon. But we knew that if we did go on a Honeymoon the location would require the following:
1.       A Beach – we LOVE the beach. The idea of just lounging on the beach seemed like the perfect plan for us
2.       The Sun – the idea of lounging on the beach with the sun shining was even more ideal
3.       No Kids – don’t get me wrong, we love kids and plan on having them in our near future,  but we wanted our Honeymoon to be nice, quiet, and relaxing
Then David’s great uncle offered for us to stay at his Beach House in Newport Beach for a week after the wedding. We figured Why not? Lots of people would pay good money to be able to stay in a Beach House in Newport Beach for a week, and we can do it for free! The Beach House fit 2 of the 3 above criteria, the price was right, we were sold. Honeymoon in Newport Beach!

Then David got to talking to some of his co-workers. They told him that we had to go on our Honeymoon in Kauai. They gave him books, pamphlets, and recommendations on what we should do and where we should stay. David was stoked on it. All of a sudden we had the money for this Honeymoon (David’s treat!), it fit 2 (possibly 3, depending on where we’d stay) of the above criteria, we were sold. Honeymoon in Kauai!

Then David and I were getting our hair cut and our hair lady said that we absolutely had to go to St. Lucia for our Honeymoon. She told us all about her clients that went and what a marvelous time they had. She pumped it up so much that David was now stoked on St. Lucia. It fit 2 (possibly 3, depending on where we’d stay) of the above criteria, we were sold. Honeymoon in St. Lucia!

Me, being the very practical person that I am, decided that it was time to quit dreaming and to start looking at the numbers to see what we could afford. David kind of gave me a budget, so I started researching what we could do with that budget in Kauai and St. Lucia, with the Newport Beach Beach House as a backup.
Which option do you think we picked???
Option A – The free Beach House in Newport Beach?
Option B – A little bit of paradise in Kauai?
Option C – A trip to the Caribbean at St. Lucia?

Well….

If you guessed…

Option C...

You guessed right!!

David and I will be spending 7 nights at an all inclusive resort in St. Lucia for our Honeymoon! We cannot wait to just lounge on the beach with our Pina Coladas and not having a care in the world…

Stay tuned for my next wedding topic of… Our Wedding Invitations

Oh this is so exciting! You will have a great time-not that the location matter all too much. Your honeymoon is special no matter what! We honeymooned in Kauai and it was FANTASTIC!

How exciting!

We opted out of a honeymoon, in order to save some money.

We were always going to go "later".

It is 15+ years later, and do you think we've made it on our honeymoon?

I'm not complaining...it was the right choice for us, because my husband was unexpectedly laid off the week of our wedding, and was out of work for 3 months...so it's good we didn't spend that extra money!

But if you can do it....you should!

We went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon eight years ago and it was AWESOME. So, so beautiful.

You will love it.

VERY cool. Never been there, but I am sure you will love it. I'm so jealous! we only had a couple days before my husband had to be back for summer semester, so we didn't get a big honeymoon.

Good luck with the rest of your wedding plans, can't wait to see the invitations!
